11th Annual Healthy Beaver 5K Road Race, at the University of Maine at Farmington Health and Fitness Center with the kids one-mile fun run tabbed for a 9:30 a.m. start followed by the 5K at 10 a.m.  The event is a fundraiser for the University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country team.  Registration fees before a postmark of April 25 are $5 for UMF students and $8 for non-UMF students. Registration forms are available for download at the University’s athletic department’s web site (athletics.umf.maine.edu) and in person at the University of Maine at Farmington Health and Fitness Center. During the week of the race, there will also be a table with registration forms in the Student Center.  Registration after April 25 is $7 for UMF students and $10 for non-UMF students. Day-of-the-race registration opens at 8 a.m. Awards will be given to top male and female and top UMF male and female students. For more information, visit athletics.umf.maine.edu.

ERA/MDA 5K Race/Walk, in Augusta, ME.  Start at 9:00 am on Water St.,  Augusta at the start of the rail trail at  the Maine State Housing parking lot.

18th annual Mother's Day 5-Kilometer Road Race, sponsored by Penquis and Maine Eastern Railroad, again will challenge local runners, young and old alike.  In addition to this year’s 5k Family Fun Run, Penquis will host the popular 250m Kids’ Mad Dash.  This event is free for children ages 12 and under.  Both races begin at the intersection of Pleasant and Union Streets and end at the railroad station on Pleasant Street. Runners should gather for registration between 7:00 am - 8:15 am. The Kids Mad Dash begins at 8:30 am with the Family Fun Run immediately following.  All proceeds of the Mother’s Day Road Race will benefit the Penquis Head Start program in Knox County.  Visit www.penquis.org for more information or to register.

Children under 12 years may walk free of charge. Pets and strollers are welcome. New award category this year - Fastest Firefighter! New kid's run in 2008 - there is no need to sign up in advance more details will be posted as the date approaches. Registration will be accepted cash only at the start line.

Run for the Sun 5K Road Race, in Brunswick, ME.  Time: 9:00 a.m.  Location: Park Row by the Brunswick Town Green.  Fee: $15 pre-registration, $20 race day

5K to benefit the Pittsfield Community Pool.  Start at 9:00a.m.  The run will begin in the back parking lot of GE Security and there will be registration available the day of the race.  $15 entry fee.  All runners registered by May 2nd will receive a race T-Shirt.
