Saturday, October 3rd

1st Annual Craig Thomas McBean Memorial 5K Run/Walk and Kid's Fun Run, Hampden, ME.  Race Application

3rd Annual Gary S. Crocker Memorial 5K Run & Walk, Dixmont, ME.  The race, which began in 2007 during the Dixmont Bicentennial, is held in honor of Gary S. Crocker, a community member and strong supporter of local agriculture and farming, who passed away in 2007. Registration begins at 9:00 am, and race time is 10:00 am sharp on the Cottrell Road in Dixmont. The 5K event will issue prizes to the top 3 places in the men's and women's divisions. The cost to participate is $10 for adults, 35 for youths; each registrant will receive a commemorative T-shirt. The Dixmont Scholarship Association awards scholarships annually to Dixmont high school seniors. Directions - enter Cottrell Road from Rte 143 (Simpson Corner Rd), about 1.5 miles north of the intersection of Rtes. 9 and 143. Follow Cottrell Rd. down to the bend, where the registration table and start of the race will be located. The race will be held rain or shine! Great Pumpkin 4K Road Race, Blue Hill, ME.  Sponsored by the Blue Hill Chamber of Commerce.  Registration from 9:00-10:00 AM at Tradewinds Market.  Race starts at 10:30 AM.  Registration Form

Craig Cup Run for Life/Maine USATF 5K XC, Cumberland, ME. Starts 9AM @ Twin Brook, Tuttle Rd., Cumberland ME. The event website is http://www.craigcup.org/start.html

Sunday, October 18th

Orono High's GoActive! club will be hosting a new event on Sunday, Oct. 18th.  The event is an off road run-bike-run duathlon (commonly called a Dirty Du), and will utilize the XC trails in the woods behind the football field.  (The kids "short course" will use the loop around the football field's fence, and is appropriate for kids probably 7 and up if they have the right kind of bike and are used to riding on grass and hard packed dirt.)  Event Flyer - Registration Form

Making Strides 5K Run/Walk, Blue Hill, ME. 

Race starts at 10a.m. Registration at 9 a.m.. $20 reg. fee includes participation #, timed results, and lunch sponsored by the PTF. $100 or more donation at time of reg. includes race T-shirt with "Making Strides" logo, Lunch sponsored by the PTF, participation #, timed results, name entered in drawing(s) for prizes. Also compete for prizes for most monies raised in 4 categories (more info attached). There will be medals, ribbons and prizes for runners placing 1st & 2nd in Male and Female age groups as follows: Age 45 and up, 30-44, 18-29, 12-17, 8-11, 7& under. Pre- register before Weds. Oct. 21st to be entered in more drawing(s) for prizes and give aways.
The course is a 5K road course starting at the Blue Hill Consolidated School in Blue Hill, Maine the course will following Scenic Parker Point road along Blue Hill Bay (to just past the Golf Course), and then loop back to the school. The road course is mostly flat.  We encourage participants to pre-register by Weds. The Wildlands 7 Mile Trail Run, East Orland, ME.  $10 entry fee.  Race day registration begins at 8:00 AM and race starts at 9:00 AM.  Race Application

Saturday, October 31st

Scare Me 5K and 1-mile fun run, Rockland, ME.  8:18am for 1-mile, 9:19 for 5K. Race starts and ends at Almalfi Restaurant in the Boston Financial Building (former MBNA building). 7th Annual Black Mountain of Maine Trail Races/Walk, Rumford, ME.  At the Ski Lodge at Black Mountain located at 39 Glover Road Rumford, Maine  04276. Courses use XC ski trails that include fields and woods plus hills and flats.  Reg. 7:30-8:45am. 5 K starts at 9:00am. Fun Run starts at 9:30am. Halloween costumes encouraged. Awards and raffle following completion of the races. Fun day also planned with other events for the family including Halloween costume review.  Contact for information and reg. form.
