Group Runs

While many enjoy the “loneliness of the long distance runner”, running is also an activity to enjoy among friends.  For those new to the sport, it is helpful to have more experienced runners willing to share advice about training and other fitness related topics.  The Sub 5 Track Club offers weekly group runs throughout the year and welcomes runners of all ages and fitness levels to join in the fun.

Monday Evening Group Runs – Year Round

Come join Sub 5′ers as we enjoy the warm, sunny evenings of a Maine summer. We meet outside of the Sea Dog on the Bangor waterfront at 5:30 pm each Monday. We’ll go about 5-6 miles at a conversational pace. This is not a race, just a chance to have fun, chat, laugh with fellow runners. Hope to see you there!

Monday night routes can include loops over to Brewer, runs along Kenduskeag stream, a loop around the Thomas Hill Standpipe, a jog through the Bangor Municipal Golf Course, and in December we search out the homes with the best Christmas displays in Bangor and Brewer.

When Bangor/Brewer races are coming up we will often cover the Walter Hunt, Labor Day, Turkey Trot, and Epic Finale routes.

Sub 5 Summer Track Workout – Wednesdays from May thru August

We will meet at 6:00 PM at the Brewer track at the Brewer Community School, 92 Pendleton St. just off Parkway South.  Workouts are available to all Sub 5 paid members.  If you have not registered for Sub 5 membership this year, please do so in advance or bring your membership application and fee with you.  Applications will be available at the track.  All levels of ability are welcome.  Come join us in improving your foot speed and meeting other runners from the community.
