Maine High School Outdoor Track

**NOTICE ABOUT 2008 PERFORMANCE LISTS**
DUE TO LOW PARTICIPATION LAST YEAR, WE WILL NOT BE COMPILING PERFORMANCE LISTS THIS YEAR
**IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING STATE CLASSES A, B, and C PERFORMANCE LISTS**
For the last 3 years we have posted statewide performance lists for Classes A, B, and C. For these lists to be useful to coaches, athletes, and fans we need 100% participation, yet only about 50% of schools have participated in the past. We are willing to put in the time and effort necessary to do the lists again this year, but if we do not get 100% participation, this will be the last year! All athlete marks must be sent using Team Manager which every school is supposed to have. This method of submission is the same method used for the state meet as well as most regular season meets, and should only take about 5 minutes per week to do. If the coach does not want to be the person to do this, they can designate a manager/athlete/parent to do it. If you do not have access to Team Manager, a free version called Team Manager Lite can be downloaded at the Hy-Tek website. For indoor track, one person (George Mendros) does the Class A and B performance lists all by himself. While George is amazing, his job is made easier in that there are only 4 leagues and 4 tracks where meets take place, and all results are posted on this website. For outdoor track, there are more leagues, dozens of host sites, and not all results are posted here or in newspapers. It would be an impossible task for anyone to find all qualifying marks, so that is why we are asking for your help. We can do this for the amazing athletes who compete in track and field in Maine!

2007 OUTDOOR TRACK STATE PERFORMANCE LISTS: INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING ATHLETE MARKS
1. The state class performance lists on the Maine High School Outdoor Track website have been well received by athletes, parents, high school coaches, and college coaches. That part of the website receives several hundred “hits” each week leading up the conference and state championship meets. They are a great way to promote our sport, give recognition to and serve as a motivator for our athletes, and can be a tool to coaches in planning which event to put their athletes in.
2. The coach, manager, or team statistician for each school is responsible for sending athlete marks for inclusion in the state performance lists. You must use Hy-Tek Team Manager to send the information. We will not accept information in any other format, nor will we gather information from newspapers or websites. The instruction below might look complicated, but in reality this process should take only a few minutes each week.
3. The performance lists are not your official seeds for the state meet nor are they sanctioned by the Maine Principals Association. It is likely that some schools will not send in their information, so the lists will not include every qualifying mark in the state.
4. You will send the performance list information as if you were seeding your athletes for the state meet. You should start by downloading the appropriate file for your class. Right click on the link for your class, choose Save Target As, and then save the file to a location on your computer where you will be able to find it. Do not try to Open the file from your browser.
Download Team Manager Files
5. Start up your Team Manager program. These instructions assume that you have started a database for your team, that you have entered your team roster, and that you have been entering results from your meets (instructions on how to do this are on the Coach's Info page of the website). From the FILE menu, chose IMPORT - MEET EVENTS. Navigate to the folder where you saved the Meet Events file, select the file, and choose OPEN. The Meet Events file will be unzipped to the TFTMTemp folder on your computer. Click on the file (it should have a long name such as tfmm2007-06-02-MeetEvents-2007 Class A Outdoor Track State Meet.ev1), chose OPEN, at the Import Events window click on OK, and click on OK when it says Events Imported: 38.
6. Click on MEETS from the main Team Manager window. You should see your state meet listed. Click on the state meet name to highlight it, and from the menu bar choose ENTRIES - ENTRIES BY EVENT. You could also choose ENTRIES BY NAME, but it should take less time to do entries by event. In the top frame of the Entry by Event window, you will see the state meet events, and the provisional qualification marks for each event. In the bottom frame you will see your roster. Athletes who have met the provisional mark in that event will have their season's best mark in the BEST column. Athletes who have not met the provisional mark will have their season's best mark with an asterisk and shaded. Make sure that hand times are entered to the tenth of a second with an "h" after them (4:36.7h for example). Click on the ENTRD box for every athlete who has met the provisional mark, even if they are not doing that event in state meet. For relays, there are not any provisional standards. With the relay name highlighted in the top frame, click on NEW RELAY in the bottom frame. The program will search the database for your best relay mark and enter that time.
7. Navigate back to the MEETS window. Choose ENTRIES - ENTRY BROWSER to check the work that you have done. Navigate back to the main Team Manager window. From the FILE menu, choose EXPORT - MEET ENTRIES. Make sure that the correct meet is listed and that the EXPORT RELAYS box is checked. Click on OK, and after noting where the file is going to be saved (the TFTMwinData folder) click on OK and then CANCEL. From your e-mail program, address an e-mail to the person below who is maintaining your class's performance list. Attach the Meet Entry file to the e-mail (it should be named something like BRW-Entries001.ZIP. If you have other meet entry files in the same folder they will be numbered sequentially, so make sure that you attach the correct file. Send the e-mail.
Class A - Glendon Rand (Brewer) - runsub5@verizon.net
Class B - Jorma Kurry (Falmouth) - jkurry@earthlink.net
Class C - Chris Mazzurco (NYA) - cmazzurco@nya.org
8. We would like to post new performance lists every Monday evening throughout the season. Please send us your meet entry file by noon on Monday to have it included in that week's list. If you have any questions, let us know. Thanks to all who will be contributing to this valuable resource!
